DIFFERENCES BETWEEN C.E. AND C.E.U.

The terms C. E. (Continuing Education) classes and C.E.U (Continuing Education Unit) classes refer to the different aspects of ongoing education, but they are closely related.

C.E. Classes:

  • Definition: Continuing Education classes are courses or programs designed for adults to further their education or skills in a specific field.
  • Purpose: These classes can be taken for professional development, personal enrichment, or to meet licensing or certification requirements.
  • Format: They can vary widely in format, including workshops, online courses, seminars, and more.

C.E.U. Classes:

  • Definition: A Continuing Education Unit is a measure used to quantify the time spent on educational activities. One C.E.U. typically equals ten hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience.
  • Purpose: C.E.U.s are often used by professionals to document their ongoing education and training. They can be important for maintaining licenses or certifications in certain fields.
  • Recognition: Not all continuing education classes offer C.E.U.s, but those that do will specify how many units are awarded upon completion.

Summary:

  • C.E. classes refer to the actual courses or programs, while C.E.U.s are the units of measurement used to quantify the educational experience. If you're looking to fulfill a requirement for licensing or certification, it's essential to ensure that the C.E. classes you take offer C.E.U.s if needed.

NATIONAL CERTIFICATION STATUS THROUGH CONTINUED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS (C.E.)

National Foot Zone Certification Members are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education (CE) every 2 years to maintain national certification status.

These CE hours can be earned through a variety of activities, courses, or service to the foot zone therapy profession.  National or international online courses in the form of in-person sessions, online, or hybrid courses are acceptable, including services to the foot zone profession.  The class qualifications are available:

1. Nationally Approved Activities/Courses

Nationally approved CE activities and courses provide advanced and in-depth training in the Foot Zone Technique. You can find a list of approved CE providers under the RESOURCES section or click HERE.

2. Supported Activities/Courses

We accept CE courses endorsed by other national certifying organizations, including the National Massage Board, Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) , the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCAA), as well as other practices in medicine and complementary and alternative health.

3. Service to Foot Zone Industry

We recognize the valuable contributions our members make to the advancement and growth of our profession. This includes serving on boards or committees for foot zone organizations, authoring science-based research or practice-related materials, and being approved CE providers or educators. Nonprofit foot zoning service projects nationally or internationally.  Participation in international, national, regional, and state foot zone organization conferences earns you 12 CE credits for each year of service
